b) Fill in your details on the enquiry form and submit it.
c) Wait for my response email with my packages and contract.
d) Carefully read through my contract, sign it and send it back to me.
e) After receiving the invoice, please pay the 50% reservation fee.
HOW DO YOU PREFER TO COMMUNICATE?
I use everything available to me to keep in touch; email, phone, text, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, you name it. However, if it’s for something important that I might need to reference for your shoot - email is my preferred medium.
If it is more relaxed and just a few questions or stuff like that - then I prefer WhatsApp.
WHAT IS GOLDEN HOUR AND SHOULD I PLAN TO SHOOT AROUND IT?
The golden hour is the time just after sunrise, or just before sunset which provides gorgeous warm, soft, romantic light for photos. The golden hour is any photographer’s dream light to shoot in! So weather permitting, try and plan your photoshoot session around it, you won’t regret it!
DO YOU INSTRUCT FOR POSING? I’M KIND OF AWKWARD / UNPHOTOGENIC.
Most of us aren’t models, so it’s no surprise that the vast majority of people feel that they’re awkward on camera or they never look good in photos. The people that you see filling the galleries on my website in my favorite images all said the same thing - and yet, look how comfortable they look. Making you feel comfortable is my main focus and I do that by just being myself and talking as if we are friends meeting up for the first time in a while. It will make you feel like there isn't even a camera pointed at you.
I absolutely provide direction wherever needed, but that doesn’t mean your photos are going to feel stiff or posed. Sometimes giving great direction means letting you know where to go, getting you to do something silly and capturing a REAL moment of laughter - an unguarded reaction.
WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL?
I only charge if your location is further than 25km from my house.
How I calculate the price is as follows:
After reaching 25km from my house, I start the odometer. The number of km's on the odometer when I arrive at your location, will then be charged at R8/km.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PHOTOS?
It depends on my workload and how many shoots I have in one week. But usually between 3-10 days. Never more than 10 days.
HOW DO I GET MY PHOTOS?
I will send all of your Low Resolution JPEG's over WeTransfer - which is very easy to use.
After you went through all of your photos, you can send me your favorite 20-40 photo's numbers (depending on which package you chose). I will then WeTransfer them to you, in High Resolution, ready for canvass printing.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I take cash and EFT's.
The way I prefer the 50% deposit is as an EFT and the total due when you receive your photos I prefer in cash if possible. If the cash is not possible, I am 100% ok with EFT as well.
AM I ALLOWED TO PUT MY PHOTOS ONLINE?
Of course! I know as well as anyone that the main way people like to share their images these days is online ( But you should 100% get some physical prints made!!! ). I only ask that wherever you share my images, that you would credit or tag me or my website to provide credit for the artwork that I’ve created. Also, that if uploading to a service like Instagram, you would not apply filters on top of the carefully crafted edits I have provided for you.
AM I ALLOWED TO PRINT THE PHOTOS THAT YOU DELIVER TO ME?
100% yes.
HOW MUCH RETOUCHING DO YOU DO?
Every image you receive is individually edited for colour, contrast, exposure and style. Some images occasionally require a little more finessing for temporary things like blemishes and pimples. Things like heavy facial retouching, wrinkle removal or body reshaping are not included with my packages and are available for an additional fee - R300/h for Digital Manipulation.
DO YOU DELIVER BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS?
A small portion of the images I deliver (typically less than 5%) are black and white where I feel it better suits the image, but the vast majority of images I deliver will be in colour.
WILL MY PHOTOS SHOW UP ON YOUR WEBSITE?
As a photographer it’s important for me to be able to show my existing body of work to attract new clients and illustrate what I can do! Typically, you can expect to see highlights from my shoots with you to show up on my website, portfolio, blog and social media. Sometimes there are justified circumstances like for undercover police officers or people in witness protection programs that cannot have any images of them online, and of course I don’t want to get anyone hurt and will absolutely respect that.
DO I GET THE COPYRIGHT TO MY PHOTOS?
As the content creator, under copyright law I am the copyright owner of the images. However, you have the freedom to share, print, scrapbook, and use your images for personal use however you see fit. I do not watermark my images and you’re free to print them at your lab of choice. What you can’t do is provide them to any sort of commercial entity for commercial use - so for example, if your makeup artist contacts you about using my artwork to promote their business, just send them my way and I would be happy to work out a usage agreement.
CAN I HAVE THE RAW FILES?
No unfortunately, I don’t give out any unprocessed images. You will however receive a WeTransfer with your beautifully edited full resolution images.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET SICK OR INJURED AND CAN’T PHOTOGRAPH ME?
If I were to get sick, in normal circumstances I would still have gone on with the shoot, but due to Covid 19 it would be a violation of the law.
So unfortunately if I feel I can cause you harm, by letting you come in contact with a possible Covid 19 case, then I will have to reschedule - roughly for 10days.
In the unlikely event of me getting injured - depending on the degree of my injury - I will reschedule to a time that fits you.
WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE?
My contract states that cancellations need to be made 48 hours before a session, or the retainer fee is forfeited.
There are obviously rare occasions where situations arise that require a rearranging of schedules. However, maintaining my schedule is very important so that I can provide high quality customer service to all of my clients and ensure that I am meeting my deadlines.
